Cave Kayak Route Es Canutells - Menorca
WITH EXPERT GUIDE - Daily departures 10h and 16h

RECOMMENDATION: Book for the first few days of your stay, in case of changes due to rough seas.

The 8 sea caves of Rutas Kayak Menorca, 50-metre cliffs and a completely unspoilt coastline. The Es Canutells caves route is the kayak excursion with the most caves in Menorca. For 3 hours you will sail along a stretch of coastline where there are no houses, no roads, nothing: just cliffs, turquoise water and caves that are discovered one after the other.

You will enter caves where the guide turns on the torch because the light does not reach the caves. You will stop to swim in corners of white sand with blue waters that don't look real. And you'll come back with GoPro photos of every moment.

This is the route for those who want more. More caves, more adventure, more wild coastline.

What you will see on the Caves Route from Es Canutells

The kayak route starts at Es Canutells beach. After 5 minutes of paddling you are already in front of the first cave. From then on, another one appears every few minutes. The whole route runs between cliffs of about 50 metres, without a single building in sight.

The first stop is the Bufador de Canutells Cave (Cova de s'Esbrufador): three natural openings in the ceiling allow the sky to be seen from the water level. It can be seen from the outside; its interior is protected by Red Natura 2000.

We then entered the Ses Atxes Cave, The cave is one of the highest on the coast, with a stalactite about 5 metres high that has been forming for thousands of years. Next, the Wailing Cave and the White Entrance Cave, The sandy background creates a perfect reflection for GoPro photos.

The route continues towards the Rincón de Na Calenta (Cova de na Calenta), a cliffy nook with a white sandy bottom and crystal clear turquoise blue waters, a favourite snorkelling stop.

Then come the most intense caves: the Cave of the Window (Cova de la Finestra), a deep cave that frames the sea like a window onto the Mediterranean; The Cathedral, one of the highest caves we know of on the entire southern coast; the Cave of the Three Chambers, The last room, where in the last room the guide turns on the torch because the darkness is total; and the Cave of La Raja (or Dragon's Tail Cave), greenish in colour, so narrow that you enter from the front and exit in reverse.

On the way back it stops at s'Enderrossall of Binicalaf, A rockslide that has created stone corridors at water level. Stop to snorkel in crystal clear waters and paddle back to Es Canutells.

Who is this kayak route for?

For any child from 7 years old and adults who know how to swim and want to experience the route with the most caves on the coast of Menorca. You don't need any kayaking experience, the guide will teach you the basic technique before you set off.

If you are looking for adventure: this is your route. You paddle further than in Cala en Porter (+15-20 min), you enter in dark caves with torch, The stretch of coastline is completely unspoilt and there are narrow passages that test your kayaking skills.

If you come with your family: Children from the age of 7 years and older can ride as a third occupant in the middle of the double kayak (free of charge). Please note that this route is somewhat more demanding than that of Cala en Porter: paddling for another 15-20 minutes, If you do, you will not reach any sheltered coves and it is possible that you will not be able to set foot anywhere along the route.

If your child does not paddle and occupies one of the two seats in the double kayak, the extra effort falls on the accompanying adult.. For families with small children who do not paddle, we recommend to consider the route from Cala en Porter, The route is more relaxed and with a stop at Cales Coves. Children under 14 must always be accompanied by an adult.

If you come as a couple or with friends: the combination of eight caves, crystal clear waters and wild coastline makes this route a memorable experience. 3 hours that will fly by.

The pace is always adapted to the group. It's not a race, it's an exploration.
